Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Annapurpurna Base Camp or Annapurna Sanctuary Trek.

The Annapurna Sanctuary is a natural amphitheatre formed by the giant Annapurna massif, with its gate being the deep gorge between the Hiunchuli and Machapuchare peaks. The views are, needless to say, breathtaking.

The sanctuary denotes the headwaters of the Modi Khola, along which the trail is defined. The trail passes through a changing landscape of rice fields, misty forests and ethnic villages like those of the Gurung and Magar.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek Itinerary

Arrive in Kathmandu city and transfer to your hotel in Thamel, in the heart of Kathmandu city. The rest of the afternoon is free for taking in the sights and sounds of this unique and bustling ancient city.

Overnight in Kathmandu.

In the morning, we explore Kathmandu on a sightseeing tour. We visit Bodhnath Stupa, one of the biggest Buddhist shrines in the world, where we observe Buddhist monks in prayer in the monasteries surrounding the stupa. We also visit Pashupatinath, the most famous Hindu temple in the country, located on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. Here we see Hindu holy men (sadhus) meditating, pilgrims bathing and occasionally funeral pyres burning on the ghats.

The afternoon is free for own sightseeing and exploration.

Overnight in Kathmandu.

Distance 200km; drive approx. 06-08 hours.

Drive to Pokhara. Pokhara (960m) is situated on the side of Lake Fewa, it is a beautiful area with Machhapuchhare (fishtail mountain) rising not far behind within the Annapurna range.
Only 200km from Kathmandu, it can take 6 to 8 hours by road depending on the season.

There is an option to fly between Kathmandu and Pokhara at USD $120 per person.

Overnight in Pokhara.

2-hour drive; 4-hour trek.

You will begin with a 90-minute drive to Nayapul where you will begin walking through the lush, green Modi river valley, past waterfalls with plunge pools that invite you to swim.
You will soon begin your ascent where you will be introduced to the lovely stone paths and staircases immaculately cared for by the local people. After 4 hours of walking you will reach Ulleri (2,070m) where you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the valley below and the peaks of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.

Overnight in a trekking lodge.

Trek approx. 4 to 5 hours.

A gentle climb through pasture and cultivated fields. As the trail climbs higher, you walk up beside the cascading river through refreshingly cool oak and rhododendron forest to Ghorepani (2,850m).

Overnight in a trekking lodge.

Trek approx. 06 hours.

Wake up early this morning and climb up to Poon hill from where can see from Dhaulagiri range to Ganesh Himal range.
During the sunrise panoramic views with colourful mountains. A stunning start to your day followed by breakfast back at your hotel. From here you have a short climb through rhododendron forests to another good view-point and on to Deurali before descending to the river and up the other side to Tadapani (2,660m) where again you will be well rewarded with stunning views of Fishtail the ideal spot to watch the sunset.

Overnight in a trekking lodge.

Trek approx. 5 hours.

The trail drops down from Tadapani, through dense rhododendron forest to Ghandruk and Komrong which present lovely views of the upper Modi valley. The route starts the long ascent high above the west bank of the Modi Khola, and continues up to the village of Chhomrung (2,030m). Towering above the village is the mighty peak of Annapurna South, with the Fishtail facing it across the valley.

Overnight in a trekking lodge.

Trek approx. 7 hours.

We walk through the pretty forest to Kuldi Ghar, before the route goes steeply down a bank of rock and then levels out, running through riverside bamboo thickets along the base of the gorge. Then the track winds steeply up through deep bamboo and rhododendron forest to the village of Dovan (2,920m).

Overnight in a trekking lodge.

Trek approx. 4 hours.

The track remains on the West Bank of the Modi, now flowing through a more open valley, and eventually emerges into the Sanctuary. Straight-ahead is the high lateral moraine of the South Annapurna glacier and the Modi follows a deep cliff to the right. This is the site of Machhapuchhre base camp (3,720m) from which can be seen a spectacular panorama of mountains. We will either stay here or continue northwest, staying above the glacial moraine.

Overnight in a trekking lodge.

Trek approx. 03 hours.

The route begins on a broad grassy path, before climbing over lateral moraine and down to the beautiful ablation valley. We soon reach the British Expedition Annapurna South Face Base Camp (4,234m.) The best views are probably obtained from the crest of the moraine, which we follow until it is cut through by the glacier flowing down from Himal Chuli to the north.

Overnight in a trekking lodge.

Mount Everest Scenic Flight

Experience the huge expanse, awe-inspiring height, majesty and power of the Himalayan ranges offered by a panoramic mountain flight from Kathmandu to Mount Everest and return – all in little more than an hour. Flights are conducted in comfortable and pressurised twin-engine 12 to 16 seat aircraft. During the flight, passengers are all provided with an opportunity to take in the mountain panorama from the wide-view windshield of the pilot’s cockpit. This is a great opportunity to take some spectacular photographs and to really take in the full spectacle of the ice-capped mountain summits and deep alpine valleys. The view from the central plains of India to the highest mountain summit on Earth is something that mountain-flight passengers never forget.

Mount Everest Heli Flight

The Everest helicopter flight takes you east flying parallel to the Himalayan ranges at the elevation of 1800-2500m. Throughout the trip, you will have views of the hills, flora and fauna well as of many hill villages where you get a glimpse of Nepali rural life.
As the helicopter approaches over Jiri, you will see the famous trail used by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, the first Everest conquerors, in 1953.
You continue to follow the trail towards Lamjura, Junbesi and then to Lukla where we will have a short stop to refuel.
Continue on your journey further up the Himalayan mountains, flying over Namche village, Periche, Lobuche and Gorak Shep. At Kalapathar, you will experience the best views of Mt. Everest and other neighboring mountains.
Another highlight of this flight is landing at Everest View hotel, a Japanese-built and managed property. From here there are superb views of Everest and the surrounding peaks, a great vantage point to enjoy your breakfast. You then return to Lukla to take on fuel before flying back to Kathmandu.
