Everest Heli Trek

The Everest Heli Trek takes you to Khumbu Himal, the homeland of Nepal’s tough mountain tribe, the Sherpas. The adventure begins with the thrilling flight to Lukla, the mountainous airstrips at 2,850m. A 2-day trek via Phakding finds us at Namche Bazaar where we have a day to acclimatise.

At Namche, the Everest heli tour begins sightseeing the towering Himalayan giants: Ama Dablam (6,856m), Thamserku (6,608m), Kantega (6,685m), Lhotse (8,501m), Nuptse (7,879m and enter Mount Everest’s Western Cwm. The view of the mesmerizing Gokyo Lakes from aboard the helicopter is just amazing. We stop briefly at Kala Patthar (5,545m) – one of the finest viewpoints to view Mount Everest up close and the site of the World’s Highest Cabinet Meeting. After exploring and taking pictures, we leave Kala Patthar and fly towards Lukla where we will stay for the night.

Everest Heli Trek Itinerary

Arrive in Kathmandu (1,360m) and transfer to our hotel in Thamel, in the heart of Kathmandu city. The rest of the afternoon is free for taking in the sights and sounds of this unique and bustling ancient city.

Overnight in Hotel Shanker, Kathmandu.

In the morning we explore Kathmandu on a sightseeing tour. We visit Bodhnath Stupa, one of the biggest Buddhist shrines in the world, where we observe Buddhist monks in prayer in the monasteries surrounding the stupa. We also visit Pashupatinath, the most famous Hindu temple in the country, located on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. Here we see Hindu holy men (sadhus) meditating, pilgrims bathing and occasionally funeral pyres burning on the ghats.
The afternoon is free for own sightseeing and exploration.

Overnight in Hotel Shanker, Kathmandu.

Fly to Lukla (2,850m). Here we organise our loads with porters and Sherpas then set off to Phakding (2,656m), in the mountains.

We take a trail that gradually descends to Cheplung village from where we get a glimpse of Mt. Khumbila, a sacred mountain which has never been climbed. From here, we gradually descend until Phakding.

We follow the Dudh Kosi river, passing villages interspersed with magnificent forests of rhododendron, magnolia trees and giant firs to Namche Bazar (3,450m), the main settlement of the Sherpa area.

A day to acclimatise. We can hike to Songbuche for superb views of the snow peaks of Teng Kangpoche (6,500m) and Kwangde (6,187m).

Today is the most exciting part of our journey. We begin our mountain sightseeing on a helicopter from Namche Bazaar. The helicopter or chopper will also take us to the Everest Base Camp along with Gokyo Lakes and Kala Patthar where we will land for pcitures. From Kala Patthar, we gaze at the mighty Himalayas including Everest. In Gokyo, the pristine emerald colored Gokyo Lakes are ours to admire. Additionally, we also get to see the beautiful Khumbu Valley, Khumbu Glacier and Icefall region.

The tour ends in Lukla where we spend the night.

Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel.

Overnight in Hotel Shanker, Kathmandu.

The morning is free until the transfer to the airport for your homebound flight.
